Eco-Art Celebrates: Frog Compass
Permanent Installation
Opening Reception:
Wednesday, June 4, 2025
3:00 PM 4:00 PM
Join artists Sylvana Dipre and Julius Minervini, along with students from Teaneck High School, the TCC Eco-Art Committee, and the Teaneck Creek Conservancy Board to celebrate the completion of the Frog Compass art installation with a community gathering, a meet-the-artists, and a performance by a brass quartet from Teaneck High School.
The Frog Compass began as repurposed metal debris pulled from the Conservancy and became a striking compass sculpture that reflects both the park’s history and its evolving future. Art students at Teaneck High School, guided by Jennifer Sinclair, selected Sylvana Dipre’s “Frog Compass” design to bring this vision to life as the newest installation in Teaneck Creek Park. Volunteers from Stonefield Engineering generously built the surrounding stone wall and viewing area, while students from Dwight-Englewood School, participating in community service, partnered with Sprout Farms & Gardens to design and plant the vibrant Compass Garden — a true testament to community collaboration.
The sculpture was supported in part by a grant from the NJ State Council on the Arts, administered by the Bergen County Department of Parks.
Meet at the Compass just past the southern intersection of the Green and Red Trails.
Free, but donations welcome. Light refreshments provided.
